ENGLISH YOUTH BALLET RETURN TO THE GRAND OPERA HOUSE YORK TO DANCE THE SLEEPING BEAUTY WITH 100 LOCAL CHILDREN TAKING PART

Children from all over the region aged between 8 – 18 years attended a very competitive audition at the beginning of February to which over 200 hopefuls came.  100 children were chosen and now rehearsals begin in earnest at All Saints RC School, York where English Youth Ballet have hired 4 rooms to rehearse over a period of 10 days (weekends and half term) – 6 hours a day.  A very intensive training course where they will learn under the expertise of Janet Lewis, director, Dominic Marshall, assistant director, and principal dancers Julianne Rice Oxley, Emma Lister, Alex Newton, Kasper Cornish and Matthew Powell.

By the beginning of June this sumptuous production with over 276 costumes will be ready with principal dancers from London taking the lead roles and the children complimenting the company in the corps de ballet and soloist parts. 

English Youth Ballet are the only company in the UK to travel the regions and offer opportunities to young talented dancers the chance to dance on stage in such a big production.

PERFORMANCES:  Friday, 06 June at 7.30pm and Saturday, 07 June at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
