Oliver Speers
Oliver trained at the Royal Ballet School in London, whilst there he received a prize at the Ursula Moreton and Irene Newton choreographic awards, as well as a commendation at the Lynne Seymour expressive dance award. He then went on to work with the Royal Ballet Company at Covent Garden, and on international tours including St. Petersburg and New York. He had the opportunity to dance some of the great classical repertoire as well as ballets from the great English heritage.
Oliver joined the Capitole Ballet of France in Toulouse as demi-soloist, where he had the opportunity to dance an extremely diverse repertoire; varying from the full length classical ballets, to neo-classical roles through to contemporary creations. Oliver then moved on to the National ballet of Spain as soloist, where he explored the neo-classical repertoire of Victor Ullate and Nacho Duato.
Oliver first performed with English Youth Ballet in April of 2005, and has performed the principal roles in the Nutcracker. Sleeping Beauty. Giselle, Swan Lake, Coppelia and Cinderella. Recently he has turned to character roles such as Rothbart in Swan Lake and the wicked sister in Cinderella.
In 2015, Oliver became a teacher in the conservatoire in Paris, and also guest teaches on the university course for future dance teachers.
