Oliver Speers
Oliver trained at the Royal Ballet Upper School under the direction of Gailene Stock, whilst there he recieved a prize at the Ursula Moreton and Irene Newton choreographic awards, and special mention at the Lynne Seymour expressive dance award. While at the school, Oliver had the opportunity to dance roles such as the 2nd Movement of Sir Kenneth MacMilan’s Concerto and Souvenirs by Christopher Wheeldon. He then went on to work with the Royal Ballet Company in a number of the great classics including Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake. His work with the Royal Ballet took him on international tours including St. Petersburg and New York.
Oliver is currently working for the Capitole Ballet of France in Toulouse under the direction of Nanette Glushack. In Toulouse, Oliver has the opportunity to dance an extremely diverse repertoire; varying from the classical ballets including Taming of the Shrew by Cranko and Don Quixotte by Glushack and neo-classical roles such as Gerschwins Who Cares? by Balanchine and Beethovens 7th by Scholz through to contemporary pieces by choreographers including Jiri Kylian and Mauro Bigonzetti.
Oliver joined EYB in April of 2005, and debuted as the Prince in the Nutcracker. He has also danced the roles as the Prince in Giselle and Sleeping Beauty.
